HYSA Evaluations For The Fall 2016 Season !!Important Info!!

Thank you for your patience as we finalize the information for the Evaluations this Sunday 6/26 and Wednesday 6/29.

Please Note:

Evaluations are for players in the following age groups.
U10 - 3rd or 4th Grade in the Fall of 2016
U12 – 5th or 6th Grade in the Fall of 2016

As a reminder the HYSA evaluations for the 2016-2017 seasons for the U10 and U12 age groups
will be held at the dates and times listed below.

For those that may be new to the process, the reasoning behind the evaluations is so that HYSA
has a non-biased method of putting together appropriately skilled teams in the various age groups.
HYSA plays in The Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League (NVYSL).
The NVYSL has requested that their member towns put together teams of kids with similar skills in order to compete in the appropriate divisions.

The evaluations are set up to be as stress free as possible, we want the kids to come and have fun.
We think it is important that the parents let their kids know what to expect during the evaluations,
especially for kids that have not been through the evaluations before. So please share this information with your child before their evaluation begins.

The evaluations will be run by experienced HYSA Coaches acting as evaluators. No coaching is done during the evaluations
We ask that the parents remain a good distance away from the field of play and do not coach or cheer for the children.
The evaluators will explain the rules of the game and then let the kids play.
The Evaluators are instructed not to make any comments or corrections during the games.
If the children have questions on a specific drill/game please assure them that they can ask the evaluators any questions that they may have.
We think this is important, since the kids are used to being coached during a typical practice.

When the kids arrive they will be asked to register, get a piney and a number.
The kids will then be put into groups of approximately 12 with an Evaluator(s) and will go to a section of the field to do a warm up.
After the warm up the kids will play a small sided game.
For U10 this will be dribbling/shooting, passing/receiving, 1v1, 2v1 and/or 3v3 games
For U12 it will be dribbling/shooting, passing/receiving, 1v1, 2v2 and/or 4v4.
Please make sure the kids are ready to play.
They should have their shin pads, cleats and water bottle. Players should wear a white T shirt and they will be given a number at registration.
If possible, please have them bring a size 4 ball as well.

After the evaluations are complete we will work to compile the results.
Please note that the results of the evaluations are completely confidential and kept within the HYSA BOD and the respective coaches.
We will not be posting results or letting parents know what the respective scores were.
We understand that we are viewing your child over a two day period in a relatively strange environment.
Which is why we use the information from the evaluations, as well as their current coach’s feedback
to put together the appropriate teams in the various divisions in the respective age group/gender.

As always, the teams are formed over the summer for the fall season.
Therefore, we will not be able to determine which team your child will be on until then.
The teams that are formed will be for both the Fall and Spring seasons so that we can develop as much continuity as possible for the given team.
If there are players that do not register for the Spring season then other players will be given the opportunity to play on the more competitive team.

We strongly encourage you to attend both evaluations. It is difficult for the Evaluators to judge over a single session.
Also, the kids tend to be more relaxed over the second day of the evaluations.
These evaluations are run annually in the Spring season of each year.

We understand that kids develop soccer skills at very different rates.
One of the goals of the HYSA is to place kids in an environment where they are best able to acquire and develop their soccer skills.
We feel by placing kids on a team and in a division that matches their current abilities they are better able to achieve these goals
and ultimately the kids are going to have more fun.
As we discussed above, we will be having evaluations each Spring season to accommodate those players that improve from year to year.

Location : Sunday 6/26 and Wednesday 6/29- Sauta Farm field, 26 Brook Street in Hudson

Evaluation Outline:

1. 15 minutes – Warm up
2. 40 minutes- Small Sided Games
3. 20 minutes – Scrimmage

Evaluation Schedule: We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your Evaluation.
This will be important so that we can register your child and make sure that they have a number for the Evaluation.
We also recommend that you attend both evaluations for your age group/gender if possible. The schedule is listed below.
PLEASE NOTE THE ALTERNATING TIMES FOR THE AGE GROUPS.
